Top 10 tech applications in cleaning, facility and green

FacilityApps organized three workshops for cleaning companies, construction companies, property managers and landscapers on the (im)possibilities of wearables such as Google Glass, Hololens and smartwatches for the work floor. There was great interest, as evidenced by the large turnout.
During the meeting the technical possibilities were shown, which international cases exist and the groups could work on their own ideas.
Top 10 ideas for applications of glass, watch and hololens on the work floor for cleaning companies and landscapers
In random order, these were the applications mentioned:
1. You can remotely look along with someone and help live with a specific problem
2. Glass or Hololens tells you what products are needed for which contamination and type of surface
3. For e-learning or instruction videos. Being able to (re)watch how certain procedures work.
4. Being able to see live where the rest of the team is (also from the client side)
5. Use for navigation so you see where to go first
6. Ordering materials and supplies
7. Being able to see if a meeting room is full or empty
8. Automatic control of work trolleys via wearables
9. When a patient is discharged or something happens on the work floor, this can be reported immediately
10. Automatic door opening

Disadvantages: privacy and intelligence of cleaners and landscapers
Questions were raised about privacy of cleaners, landscapers, construction workers and other field workers. It was also asked whether this removes intelligence from employees, which is important in people work and service management.
Our biggest insight
Our biggest learning was that many of the solutions mentioned do not need to be done via glass, Hololens or smartwatch. Many of the above applications already exist and are possible with a smartphone and the FacilityApps platform.
