During the Vakbeurs Facilitair en Gebouwbeheer 2016, startups FacilityApps and Lone Rooftop signed a partnership for building management innovation: Smart Cleaning in Intelligent Buildings. FacilityApps provides optimal coordination of service staff and cleaners with its apps, while Lone Rooftop's Position Intelligence Engine (PIE) provides real-time insight into office occupancy.
From traditional building management to Smart Buildings
"Intelligent and Smart Buildings are closer than ever and our platform is ready to accelerate this," says Marcel Lamers of Lone Rooftop. "We have tested and rolled out our technology at ABN AMRO and Wageningen University & Research over the past year. Now we are ready for the next growth phase in which we form partnerships to shape 'The Intelligent Building'."
PIE is our underlying technology that calculates where people are in buildings based on WiFi and supplements this with sensor data where needed. From PIE, this data can be accessed by various applications and several apps already run on the platform. "We listened carefully to Facility Managers' feedback, and a frequently mentioned need is smart cleaning coordination. The link to FacilityApps emerged quickly. We are very enthusiastic about this collaboration."
Smart cleaning on Facility Management wish list for years
Dirk Tuip of FacilityApps continues: "Cleaning is a very important factor on the employee satisfaction list but is still approached quite traditionally. Completing standard rounds with the same number of cleaners and signing off tasks on paper simply no longer works. Not in a time of flexible working, when offices are often open 24 hours a day, people work late into the evening and cleaning needs can vary from day to day.
By adding occupancy information to our current suite of cleaning apps we make cleaning truly smart," says Tuip. "We know which departments worked late, where birthdays and anniversaries are celebrated spontaneously, which zones are empty, where there are abnormal occupancy peaks and how busy restaurants and meeting rooms are. Via our Smart Cleaning app you can respond to this in real time. Not only will the number of cleaning complaints decrease dramatically, the cleaning crew can also be deployed more efficiently and costs will be saved."
Partnership on Smart Cleaning a 'No Brainer'
"FacilityApps is the leader in cleaning and facility in the Netherlands with valuable apps. So it is a logical choice to partner instead of investing a lot of time and energy in developing an app ourselves. We startups want to scale quickly through the right partnerships and it was a natural choice for both parties to enter this partnership for a smart cleaning app," concludes Lamers.
