Introduction of New Tasks App

FacilityApps has offered the possibility to schedule tasks for years. It also created a special HACCP module for food cleaning. However, this was not easy to use for regular cleaning maintenance of buildings, schools and hospitals. With the introduction of a completely new work program and tasks app, it is now even more interesting to involve the cleaner in digitalization.

Starting over

"For a software company it is painful to see that something you built a few years ago slowly becomes outdated and less usable in the future," says Dirk Tuip, one of the founders of FacilityApps. Tuip started his professional career at a cleaning company. "We started more than a year and a half ago to completely revise the technique and structure behind our tasks and planning module. On the app side too, our customers are used to the Facebook and Apple effect: everything works simply and easily."

Feedback and user input

"To better align the functionalities, our programmers and consultants visited a number of customers where the app was shown in practice. Among others at the offices and spaces of the Heineken Experience, a croquette factory, a hospital and a large secondary school. It is of course always good to literally stand next to the cleaner and their supervisors in the field. Both to see how they use our app now and to hear how it can be better. This gave us essential input on how we could take the next step. Now we are actually ready to roll this out."

Tasks App

The tasks App now meets the need to schedule all recurring tasks and record them in task templates and task templates. It does not matter what frequency those tasks have: daily, weekly, monthly, yearly or another periodic repetition.

Those task templates and work programs can be easily applied to objects, floors, rooms or elements. "The more critical the environment, the more the cleaning company wants certainty that the work is carried out in the same way and that the necessary steps are taken. But the customer also increasingly wants to know what is happening and be kept informed in real time.

We also see this in the flow of new customers. They often cite transparency to the customer as an important factor in their steps in digitalization. Delivering demonstrably good work is important for the future. We call that evidence based cleaning," Tuip continues.

Future in planning, maintenance and execution

"We believe we are at the starting point of a revolution for service and maintenance companies such as cleaning companies. Under the influence of internet of things, smart building and smart city, the way of planning and execution will change drastically in the coming years. We take this into account in our roadmap. So that we hopefully don't have to start over with this App again in 3 years," Tuip concludes with a laugh.
