    Why do cleaning operations get bogged down by staff, profit margins and administration?

    Cleaning companies are losing ground on three fronts at once: there is a shortage of staff, margins have been squeezed by price-based tendering, and the administrative burden is growing due to higher standards of quality and accountability.     What does the future of AI in the cleaning sector look like?

    Cleaning is often invisible: it takes place on the sidelines, before the world even notices. The knowledge possessed by cleaners — which areas always get dirty first, where people tend to walk, when a dispenser runs out — has never been documented or valued.

    That is precisely what AI can change. Not by replacing people, but by making their work visible and measurable. The sector is moving from digitalisation — recording what happens — to intelligence: predicting, identifying issues and making recommendations based on that data. The question is not whether AI will reach the cleaning sector, because that has already happened. The question is whether the sector will simply go along with what is happening, or whether it will be the architect of its own transformation.
