Strength of the Ringdijk now trackable via FA
Last week the reinforcement of the Ringdijk in Watergraafsmeer, Amsterdam, was completed. The physical work is done and the work now continues within the FacilityApps platform. The dike was symbolically returned to the residents when Mr. Peter Glas, Delta Programme Commissioner, together with Mr. Eric Wagener, Director of the Flood Protection Programme (HWBP), covered the last JLD dike stabilizer with soil. Afterwards, together with Gerhard van den Top, Chair of the Water Authority Amstel, Gooi and Vecht, Mr. Gerard Korrel, Board Member of Water Authority Amstel, Gooi and Vecht (AGV), Mr. Jos Karsten, Director of JLD Contracting BV, and the residents, flower-rich grass seed was scattered.
JLD Dike stabilizer + sensor + nbIOT = data-driven dike monitoring
The reinforcement of the Ringdijk in Amsterdam was the first dike reinforced with the new JLD Dike Stabilizer technique. The JLD Dike Stabilizer was chosen for reinforcing the Ringdijk in Amsterdam so the dike could keep its existing shape and the trees did not have to be cut down. In addition, the dike anchoring technique causes the least inconvenience for residents. The pilot has been very successful! Depending on soil conditions and the specific situation, the JLD Dike Stabilizer can resolve a strength deficit of up to 30%.
The role of FacilityApps is to read out the sensors, warn when limits are exceeded, and via dashboards show the development under changing conditions such as weather data and water levels.
